Carers

Non-urgent advice:

We have a Carers register at the Practice. We actively encourage patients to let us know if they either have a carer (or someone who looks after them) or you are a carer yourself. Your carer doesn’t have to be a registered patient at this practice.

All information provided to us, is of course, treated with the utmost confidence and forms part of your medical record.

– There are an estimated 7 million carers in the UK, that’s 1 in 10, 42% are men and 58% are women

– There are 700,000 young carers in the UK, that’s 1 in 12

– There are 376,000 young adult carers in the UK aged between 16-25

– Roughly 10 % of all patients are carers, 1/3rd for 20 hours or more and 1/5th for more than 50 hours per week

– The peak caring age for carers is 50 – 65 years (some carers are looking after parents, children and grandchildren, ie. more than 1 generation of caring)

You are not alone
